Hello NWW Families,

As a passionate hockey community, we need to stay positive during these challenging times and find ways to help support each other. Hopefully, the strong relationships your family has formed through NWW community hockey are a source of strength and helpful connections. We have commenced planning for next season based on a full program but will adapt appropriately if necessary.

In follow up to our original Volunteering email on February 4th, we are providing additional volunteer information for your consideration as well as the volunteer application form.

Volunteers are key drivers of the entire NWW community hockey program. In addition to the individual volunteers necessary on each hockey team, there is also a tremendous amount of volunteer effort required at the Association level, with peak demands occurring from the close of registration in mid-August up to the formation of teams in September. Throughout the rest of the season as well as the Spring and Summer months, many volunteers are organizing, planning and improving policies and practices for the next season.

The NWWs currently have many vacancies and also positions where volunteers have more than fulfilled their term of service and are looking to step down. A number of other volunteers would welcome the opportunity to work with and mentor new Association level volunteers. This is all part of a positive succession program to ensure we have a strong and robust organization for the years to come.

A listing of all NWW Association level volunteer roles are attached here Volunteer Roles  and Volunteer Application Form with a detailed description of the role, accountability, desired skill set, as well as expected time commitments. If you have questions regarding these roles, please contact us at (volunteer@NWWarriorshockey.com) and we will do our best to answer your questions. If you are interested in any of the roles, please complete and submit the attached application form and return it to us at (volunteer@NWWarriorshockey.com).

We encourage you to strongly consider these volunteer opportunities. Community Hockey is important to all of us. We are looking for volunteers from all age groups and division levels to ensure we have representation that reflects the diversity of our NWW hockey Association. A stronger and deeper volunteer group makes for a better hockey experience for everyone and more reasonable workloads for all the volunteers involved. If you know of someone within your network that has the skill set and interest in volunteering, please encourage them to apply. Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and recent Alumni families are all welcome and encouraged to consider these volunteer roles. We also ask that all NWW team managers reach out and encourage families on their teams that they think possess the skills and interests to volunteer at the Association level.

The application deadline is May 31, 2020. If you can submit your application earlier that would be appreciated. We will confirm receipt of all applications within 2 days of receipt and will confirm selection of applicants by early June 2020. Volunteers will be connected with each other during June to communicate, organize and prepare for the 2020-2021 season.

The NWW’s mission is to provide a hockey program for the residents of the communities we serve. Our program aims to develop a strong sense of community spirit, commitment, determination and hard work in the pursuit of personal excellence, with a focus on safety and fun for all participants. We strive to develop the values of discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership and respect while growing socially, physically, ethically and emotionally.

All the best to you and your families.
